Ingredients

  • Thinai rice [Foxtail Millet] – 1 cup
  • Yellow moong dal- ¼ cup
  • Ghee – 3 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Peppercorn – 1 tbsp
  • Ginger – 1 inch [chopped, mashed]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Salt to taste
  • Water – 2 ½ cups

Preparation

  • Wash thinai rice and yellow moong dal.
  • Put this mixture in a cooker with water, ghee then cook for 4 whistle.
  • Heat pan with ghee then add cumin seeds, pepper corns, ginger and curry leaves then cut off heat. Add this to cooked thinai mixture.
  • Then add salt and ghee mix well. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
