Ingredients

  • Green okra[vendakkai, ladies finer]- 10
  • Garlic flakes -5
  • Onion -1
  • Green Chillies -3 to 4
  • Curry leaves- 1 spring
  • Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
  • Rice flour- 1 tbsp
  • Tamarind water -1/2 cup
  • Water -1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 3 tbsp

Preparation

  • Soak tamarind in water for 10 min, then squeeze & extract water.
  • In a bowl add rice flour and 1/2 cup of water mix well[buttermilk consistency]
  • Wash the okras and cut it into small pieces.
  • Chop the onions and garlic.
  • Slit green Chillies.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan saute okra then keep it aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil, add mustard seeds let it splutter then add curry leaves.
  • Add onion, garlic and green chilies.
  • Add fried okras and tamarind extract mix well & let it boil.
  • Add rice flour water & salt boil till thick & raw smell out.
  • Serve with rice.

Note

  • Instead of Okra potato can be used.

Tip

  • Pappadam is the best side dish.
