Ingredients

  • Sago[Javvarisi] -1 cup
  • Oil– 2 tbsp
  • Coconut milk-½ cup
  • Sugar- 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tbsp
  • Edible camphor[Pachai katpuram] - mustard size
  • Raisins - 7
  • Cashew Nut - 4
  • Water – 2 cups

Preparation

  • Wash & soak sago overnight or 5 hours
  • Add 2 tbsp oil a pan, roast cashew nuts, & raisins, keep it aside.
  • In the same pan add 2 cups of water, let it boil
  • Add sago cook till color changed to transparent
  • Add sugar let it boil.
  • Add coconut milk, let it boil for 3 min.
  • Add cardamom powder, mix well then cut off heat.
  • Add ghee roasted cashew nut,& raisins. Serve hot or cold.

Tip

  • For another variation of sago payasam use condensed milk or palm jaggery
