Rava kichadi

Ingredients

  • White rava [Semolina] – 1 cup
  • Tomato – 1 [chopped]
  • Onion- 1 [sliced]
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
  • Green chilli – 1 [slit]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
  • Coconut- 1 tbsp [thinly sliced or grated]
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Water as needed[Aprx.2 cups]

Method

  • Dry roast rava.
  • Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram and urad dal.
  • Add onion sauté till soft then add ginger & coconut sauté. Then add green chilli, curry leaves, turmeric powder & tomato sauté till soft.
  • Add water and salt mix well & let it boil. Then add dry roasted rava mix well & cover it, cook for 2 min.
  • Then cut off heat & leave it for 3 min. Sprinkle coriander leaves & serve hot with chutney.
