Ingredients

  • Dry red chilli [Sigappu milagai, Vara Milagai] – 5
  • Small Onion[Shallots, chinna vengayam]– 10 [peeled,washed]
  • Garlic – 1 cloves
  • Curry leaves - 1 spring
  • Brown sugar/ white sugar or jaggery - 1/2 tbsp
  • Tamarind – 1 inch
  • Water – 4 tbsp [Optional]
  • Salt to taste

For seasoning [optional]

  • Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 spring
  • Sesame Oil - 1 tbsp

Method

  • In a mixer jar or stone mortar pestle add dry red chilli, onion, curry leaves, garlic, brown sugar, salt & tamarind then coarsely grind.
  • Then add water finely grind.
  • Transfer freshly ground mixture to a bowl
  • For seasoning:- Heat sesame oil in a pan add mustard seeds, curry leaves.
  • Add ground mixture mix well then serve with idli, uthappam & dosa.
