Kollu chutney By

Ingredients

  • Horse gram [kollu] – 3 tbsp
  • Sambar Onion [shallots] – 6
  • Coconut – 3 tbsp [grated]
  • Dry red chilli -1
  • Garlic – 2 cloves
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tbsp
  • Tamarind – ½ inch
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Peppercorns - 5
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil - 2 tbsp

Preparation Method

  • Wash & soak horse gram for ½ an hour. Then boil in pressure cooker for 6 whistles.
  • Heat pan with oil then roast Bengal gram and urad dal then keep it aside.
  • Next roast cumin, coriander seeds & peppercorns.
  • Next roast dry red chilli. Then roast onion, garlic and coconut.
  • Put roasted ingredients, tamarind, boiled horse gram and salt in a mixer jar & grind to coarse or fine paste. Add water if required.
  • Then serve with rice.
