  • Karamani[Lobia, cowpea]– 1 cup
  • Green chilli - 1 [finely chopped]
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
  • Garlic – 2
  • Curry leaves – 2 springs [finely chopped]
  • Coriander leaves - 2 springs
  • Mint leaves - 2 springs
  • Onion - 1
  • Corn flour - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying


  • Wash & soak Karamani for 5 to 8hours. Then drain water
  • In a mixie jar add karamani, onion, ginger, garlic, curry leaves, mint, coriander, & salt finely grind wihtout water
  • Transfer ground mixture to a bowl, add corn flour or rice flour mix well.
  • Then shape vadai & put hole in the middle then deep fry till crisp & golden brown.
  • Serve hot with chutney, sambar, curd rice or pongal.


  • You can make thayir vadai, sambar vadai also.
  • Dont add too much water while grinding.
