Jeera aloo | Cumin potato-Punjab special recipe

Ingredients

  • Potato [Aloo]– 3
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tbsp [Dry roast cumin seeds & coarsely grind]
  • Coriander powder– 1 tbsp [Dry roast coriander seeds & coarsely grind]
  • Pepper powder a pinch [Dry roast 2 to 3 peppercorns & coarsely grind]
  • Dry mango powder – ¼ tsp [optional]
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp

Method

  • Peel off the potato skin, cut into 1 inch cubes & boil till soft. Then drain water.
  • In a bowl add boiled potato, salt, turmeric & red chilli powder mix well & keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds & let it splutter. Then add cumin, coriander & pepper powder.
  • Add boiled potato, dry mango powder mix well, sauté for 2 min, & cut off heat. Serve hot with rice or chapati

Note

  • You can add chat masala, fenu greek powder, kasoor methi when seasoning. It will give extra aromatic flavor for sabzi.
