Javvarisi [Sabhudana] Upma

Ingredients

  • Javvarisi [Sabhudhana /Sago] - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 [finely chopped]
  • Green Chilli - 1 [finely chopped]
  • Ginger - 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
  • Curry Leaves - 1 spring
  • Coriander Leaves - 3 tbsp [Chopped]
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Asafetida - a pinch
  • Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

  • Wash and Soak sabhudhana overnight. Drain extra water before preparation
  • Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds. Once mustard seeds splutter add chopped onion sauté well.  Add ginger when onion turns to light brown then add curry leaves, greenchilli, asafetida, turmeric powder & mix well
  • Add sabhudana, sprinkle salt then sauté gently for 2 to 3 min. Once sabhudana is cooked (colour turns out in to transparent) then sprinkle coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well then cut off heat. Serve hot
