Green gram idli | Pachai payaru idli-How to make-Stepwise pictures


Green gram idli


Cuisine Style: South India | Cooking Time: 10 minutes | To Serve: 4 | Type: Breakfast, dinner | Take With: Chutney, sambar

Ingredients

  • Green gram – 2 cups
  • Urad dal – ½ cup
  • Idli Rice – ¼ cup
  • Fenugreek seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed.

Method

  • Dry roast moong dal.
  • Wash & soak moong dal, urad dal, idli rice & fenugreek seeds overnight.
  • Drain water then grind well. Add water when grinding. In a bowl add freshly ground batter, salt and leave it for fermentation [approximately. 8 hours].
  • Heat idli cooker with water & let it boil. Grease idly plates with gingelly oil, pour idly batter & place it in idli cooker. Cover lid & steam it for 10 min.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney and Sambar.

Soak green gram, black urad dal, fenugreek & rice for 8 hours then grind to fine batter. Add salt & leave it for fermentation[apr.5 to 8 hours].This pic depicts 'Fermented batter'Fermented batter
