  • Gongura[Sorrel leaves] - 1 cup
  • Besan [gram flour, kadalai maavu] – 1 cup
  • Rice flour – 3 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
  • Asafetida a pinch
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil – ¼ ltr [for frying]

Preparation Method

  • Wash & Pluck gongura leaves
  • Add gram flour, rice flour, salt, asafetida, red chilli & turmeric powder then add water mix well & make batter without lumps
  • Add 1 tbsp of oil into gram flour batter for crispiness & fluffy
  • Heat oil in a pan, dip gongura leaves in the prepared batter, drop it in oil, deep fry till crisp & golden brown both sides on medium hot oil
  • Once its ready remove from oil, drain on absorbent paper & serve hot with tea or coffee.
