The usual idli has only two forms fried idli or idli upma. But this Carrot idli stands out in its shape and attracts by its color. We are using two round shape mould over the cavity of the idli plate. This is something unique and first time on the net. Your kids definitely will like it.


  • Idly batter – 2 cups
  • Carrot - 1 grated
  • Tomato - 1 ring
  • Coriander  - 2 tbsp
  • Coriander for garnishing
  • Salt to taste


  • Heat oil in a pan add grated carrot & salt sauté gently for a min.
  • Heat water in an idli cooker. Grease the Idli plate’s cavity with oil. Then place round shaped mould over the cavity
  • Pour idli batter outside the mould by holding it. Now pour 2 tbsp inside the mould. Place sautéed carrots inside
  • Then place another small mould into it & place some chopped coriander.
  • Cover lid & steam it for 10 min. Then cut off heat, Serve hot with coconut chutney.


  • You can use any vegetable like cabbage, beetroot etc.,


  • You can also add sautéed vegetable in batter and make using only idli plate. This is conventional and usual method
