Ingredients

  • Carrot – 2
  • Onion – 1 [sliced]
  • Dry red chilli [Sigappu milagai, Vara Milagai]–1 or 2
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Tamarind – 1 inch piece
  • Bengal gram[Chana dal, kadalai paruppu] – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Water as needed
  • Salt to taste

For seasoning [optional]

  • Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 spring
  • Oil - 1 tbsp

Method

  • Heat oil in a pan add bengal gram, urad dal, garlic, dry red chilli, saute till light brown
  • Then add onion, carrot, tamarind & salt saute
  • Put roasted ingredients in a mixer jar fine grind with 1/2 glass of water
  • For seasoning:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, & curry leaves
  • Add seasoned ingredients to the ground mixture mix well then serve with idli, uthappam & dosa.
