Ingredients

  • Barley – 1 cup
  • Onion – 1 [sliced]
  • Tomato – 1 [finely chopped]
  • Green chilli – 1 [slit]
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Coriander leaves – 2 springs
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water – 3 cups

Preparation

  • Dry roast Barley.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Add Bengal gram, urad dal sauté gently then add onion sauté till soft.
  • Add ginger, green chilli, curry leaves. Then add tomato sauté till soft.
  • Add water & salt mix well & let it boil. Then add Barley mix & well then cover it and cook for 4 to 5 whistles.
  • Then add coriander leaves mix well and serve hot with coconut chutney, pickle or chips.
